Lovegrass
Loose in the hand, tight in the structure. A to Z, upper and lower case, come in three forms of the same hand that take turns as you type, so a doubled letter never repeats its shape.
These days I draw the type for a lot of the brands I work with. Rather than shop around for the perfect font, I sketch what feels like them and build a typeface from it, so it’s custom and entirely theirs. When one doesn’t make the final cut, it gets a second life here. Either way, I had a blast drawing it.

A grotesque with the ink left in. Built to measured ratios, then given back what a press would add. A to Z come in three forms here too, and they take turns as you type.
I drew Activate for a Space of Love pack. The pack went another way in the end, but this is still one of my favorite faces to date. One round-ended arch builds every letter, and it’s unicase, so a headline sets evenly whatever the caps lock does.
Cut like a woodblock. Flat terminals, edges that never quite line up, and alternate cuts of the capitals. See it on the High Spirits flutes.
I was designing a book for Victoria Pelletier, and every illustration in it carried notes in my hand. Rescanning after each edit got old fast, so I turned my handwriting into a font. It writes like an architect, the way I was taught in school, with a lot of Johnny in it.

ask →Every download holds the desktop fonts, the web fonts and the licence itself. With the commercial licence, work you make for clients is covered. If a client wants the fonts to keep using themselves, they need their own licence, and we are happy to invoice them directly.
Yours would start the same way. We talk about what you are building, who it is for, and where it is actually trying to go. By the end of that call you will know whether we are right for each other. If we are, you work directly with us the whole way through.
